Frequently asked
A hedge fund tool, now in your hands.
Important — please read before continuing. Options trading carries significant risk and is not appropriate for every investor. Rivativ provides model portfolios and market analysis for informational purposes only — we do not provide personalised financial advice, and nothing on this platform should be construed as a recommendation to buy or sell any financial instrument. Always consider your own financial situation and, where appropriate, seek independent advice before trading.
What are options and why would I use them?
Options are financial contracts that give you the right — but not the obligation — to buy or sell an asset at a set price before a specific date. Institutional investors have used them for decades to generate extra income and protect portfolios against sharp market falls.
When you already own an ETF, you can systematically sell options against that holding. The market consistently overpays for insurance. That gap is captured as consistent, repeatable income. Professionals call it the variance risk premium.
Options overlays add approximately +3% per year to a standard ETF return. Over 40 years, that compounds to roughly 3× the wealth of a buy-and-hold strategy.
What are model portfolios?
Options are attractive, but can be complex to create and monitor. Each Rivativ model portfolio is a systematic, rules-based strategy targeting a specific slice of the volatility market. Rather than hunches or timing, they follow repeatable logic — the same logic used by professional options desks. You see exactly what positions are taken, why, and when.
What do I get as a subscriber?
A Rivativ Pro subscription delivers an ongoing signal, not just a static strategy guide.
- Daily asset allocations — concrete position guidance for each portfolio, updated each trading day with current strikes, expiries, and sizing
- Weekly market update — a plain-English digest of what moved markets and what it means for each strategy
- AI options coach — ask anything about a trade, a Greek, or a market event, trained on our strategy logic
- Transparent backtests — performance history and methodology for every portfolio, presented with full disclaimers
Can you trade on my behalf?
No. Rivativ is a model portfolio service — we do not execute trades on your behalf or hold your assets. You execute allocations directly on your own brokerage account, at your own discretion.
- Subscribe to Rivativ Pro and get access to all model portfolios, daily allocations, and the AI coach
- Choose a strategy that fits your risk profile — review the backtests and risk parameters before committing
